On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, the Las Vegas Aces invited magician John Rotellini to perform at the Halftime of their game against the Dallas Wings at The House at Mandalay Bay.
Together, they created a challenge for John to be performed under test conditions. Many audience members were asked to participate and, out of those that said yes, four people were chosen at random, lottery-style to take part in a unique experiment.
Not knowing that they'd be a part of a magic act, they were kept separate from John until they were on the court in order to make sure that John could not attempt to influence their choices prior to the performance.
If John was able to "get inside of their heads" and figure out what they were thinking, the audience members would win some incredible Aces merchandise. John made a prediction which was visible to the rest of the arena via a link on Ace Vision during the performance and posted his prediction online to social media earlier in the day, revealing it prior to the start of the game and again shortly before halftime.
With a little luck and a lot of help from Aces mascot, BUCKET$, John successfully predicted what the audience members were secretly thinking and successfully completed the challenge.
