Heather Renner - Singer

“Heather Renner is a Theater Major at UNLV in the Honors College, dual minoring in Vocal Performance and Political Science. Yananda Mendes - Puzzle Expert

“My name is Yananda Mendes. I am a second-year student of Architecture at UNLV. I grow up in Brazil, in the region of Sao Paulo. When I was growing up my dad wanted to provide me the opportunity to have interaction with a different pet each year, other then my dogs and cats, so I had bunnies, hamster, goat, sheep, horses, cows, pigs, ducklings, swan, chicks, guinea pig and birds. I am sharing this because I think it is an interesting fact about my life. Things I like to do for leisure are: building Jigsaw puzzles, playing golf, building stuff, decorating, checking out houses, photography, dance, hiking, reading, being creative! The reason I entered this Talent Show, is because I have noticed that not a lot of people have the patience and interest in building a Jigsaw puzzle, and for me, when I build it, it provides me the feelings of relaxation and fun. I believe that building a 1000 pieces Jigsaw puzzle in fourteen hours by myself (within this time is also included the time I took to eat) is an accomplishment, because most people I know would not have the patience to even finish it. Perhaps, if they do finish the likelihood that they will take more time to complete it is higher. Therefore, I believe this is indeed a talent of mine.”

Dulcemaria Solian - Singer

“I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. My major is psychology and my minor is criminal justice. I have volunteered for many non-profit organizations that support families with autistic children. I worked with autistic individuals at UNLV Ackerman center as a registered behavior technician and now I work as a job coach for young adults on the spectrum at Grant A Gift Autism Foundation & as a simulated patient for student doctor’s at Touro University Nevada. My biggest dream at the moment is to graduate from law school and help my community—particularly minorities like myself as well as different abled individuals. I have many hobbies such as playing the ukulele, doing makeup, traveling with my family, dancing hip hop, and spending time with my friends. My love for singing didn’t start until high school where I participated in graduation choir and a few talent shows. I also took a voice class at UNLV my first year which helped me expand my vocal range. The song I am singing is called I know you by Skylar Grey and I previously sung it at a talent show when I was 16 years old. It’s one of the most difficult songs I’ve ever learned but my performance and vocal notes have significantly improved since then. :)”
