EXPERIENCES THAT PEOPLE ACTUALLY REMEMBER.

John Rotellini reads rooms for a living. From speaking and hosting to endurance sports, headlining stages, a Guinness World Record, and his work as The Mentalist, his experiences have taught him to notice what others miss, understand perspective, create connection, find what’s possible in the seemingly impossible, and turn ordinary moments into extraordinary ones.

How people experience a message matters.

Perception happens quickly, and the way an idea is framed can change how people respond to it. John uses those same principles onstage, combining interactive mentalism, behavioral science, and real-world experience to explore practical skills including observation, communication, reframing, and engagement.

Ideas stick when people are actively involved and emotionally invested.

People are more likely to pay attention to, remember, and share ideas when they are engaged in the experience and emotionally connected to it. That is why John doesn’t simply explain how a mentalist thinks. He brings audiences into the process, helping them recognize the tools they already have, see familiar situations differently, and leave with ideas they can actually use.

John encourages people to add light to the spaces that they move through.

Connection is what turns an idea into something more meaningful. For John, that means taking the same attention we give to what is happening around us and applying it to the people around us. Be present. Pay attention to people. Encourage them. Help where you can. Make the space a little better because you were in it.

That’s the kind of connection John wants audiences to take with them beyond the stage.

PERCEPTION MAY BE INSTANT. CONNECTIONS CAN LAST.

The Mental List

The Mental List

WHAT IF THE THINGS THAT LOOK IMPOSSIBLE DON’T REQUIRE SUPERPOWERS AT ALL?

The Mental List takes audiences behind the curtain of John Rotellini’s experiences, from being The Mentalist to entertainment, endurance sports, speaking, hosting, and service. What emerges is a collection of skills, values, relationships, choices, and lessons that can help people create extraordinary moments of their own and feel better equipped to take on what may seem impossible.

Through interactive demonstrations from John’s touring productions and The Mentalist in Las Vegas, along with storytelling, behavioral science, and audience participation, John shows how surprisingly ordinary tools can help us approach extraordinary challenges. Observation. Communication. Trust. Preparation. Perspective. Resilience. Adaptability. Knowing when to ask for help.

SKILLS ARE ONLY PART OF THE LIST.

Skills matter, but so does how we choose to use them. The Mental List explores the values and lessons that shape how we work, lead, connect, handle failure, pursue what matters, and help others succeed.

It’s part performance, part practical toolkit, and part collection of lessons gathered through work, relationships, mentorship, accountability, and experience.

NO TWO MENTAL LISTS NEED TO LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME.

John shapes each presentation around the people in the room and what matters most to them. The same core keynote can serve different audiences in different ways, including::

  • Students: identity, resilience, relationships, choices, and potential

  • Advisors & Educators: listening, trust, perspective, mentorship, and belonging

  • Leaders & Teams: communication, adaptability, culture, connection, and responsibility

  • Sales & Corporate Groups: preparation, confidence, observation, engagement, and reading the room

  • Associations, Government & Professional Groups: leadership, service, collaboration, perspective, and mission

These are only a few examples. John works with each client to shape the experience around the goals, culture, and conversations that matter most to that organization and their audience.

He isn’t arriving with a speech that simply happens to be delivered at your event. He creates an experience designed to belong there.

WHAT’S ON YOUR LIST?

What skills have you developed? What values guide you? Who helped you get where you are? What have success and failure taught you? And how can you use what you’ve learned to make the people and communities around you a little better?

WHAT LOOKS IMPOSSIBLE IS RARELY ONE BIG THING.

IT’S USUALLY A LONG LIST OF LITTLE THINGS WORKING TOGETHER.

And whenever possible, we can use those things to create magic, add light, and help someone else’s light shine a little brighter.

John absolutely blew us away! His talent, production quality, and demeanor makes for a perfect addition to any corporate event. My team was buzzing for days after the performance. Cannot recommend John enough!

U Are Here: Tips And Tricks For Your College Success

U Are Here: Tips And Tricks For Your College Success

AN ORIENTATION STUDENTS WANT TO BE PART OF. HERE IS JUST THE BEGINNING.

The first weeks of college are filled with excitement, possibility, uncertainty, and a lot of information. U ARE HERE meets first-year students in that moment, combining the energy of a live show with meaningful conversations about making the most of college and the community they have just joined.

Drawing from performances featured in John Rotellini’s touring productions and The Mentalist in Las Vegas, John blends humor, mentalism, storytelling, behavioral science, and audience participation to help students navigate what comes next. Connection. Perspective. Decision-making. Resilience. Responsibility. Asking for help. Recognizing opportunity. Finding their place within a new community.

BUT U ARE HERE IS NOT A ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL KEYNOTE.

Every campus has its own culture, expectations, resources, and priorities. John works closely with each college or university to weave those elements into the experience, creating a program that feels built for that campus and the students entering it.

Depending on the institution, that can include conversations around:

  • Connection & Belonging: making friends, building relationships, and finding community

  • Student Success: resilience, stress, asking for help, and using campus resources

  • Choices & Responsibility: decision-making, consent, alcohol, safety, and looking out for others

  • Campus Life: values, expectations, traditions, involvement, and community standards

These are examples, not a fixed curriculum. The experience is shaped around the messages each institution wants its students to hear and remember.

ENTERTAINMENT OPENS THE DOOR. MEANING GIVES IT PURPOSE.

U ARE HERE gives students something they can laugh through, participate in, and talk about afterward while making more serious topics easier to approach. Important information becomes part of a shared experience instead of simply another item on an orientation agenda.

That helps institutions reinforce the connections, behaviors, resources, and relationships that support engagement, belonging, student success, and retention.

STUDENTS ARRIVE EXPECTING A SHOW. THEY LEAVE WITH MORE.

They leave with practical tools, a better sense of the people and resources around them, and a clearer idea of how to make the most of where they are and what comes next.

Our organization was so impressed with John. He was the perfect addition to the student activities events, he was fun and funny, he was fascinating with his magic, and he was simply a hit with our audience. His material was ideally suited for our crowd. This event turned out to be one of our highest attended events… I would highly recommend John for any show that pertains to students or family, you will not be disappointed.
